Job Summary:
Leiden cabinet Company, a leading millwork manufacturing company, is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Shipping and Receiving Associate to join our team. This position plays a crucial role in the efficient flow of materials and finished products, ensuring that items are properly received, stored, and shipped on time. The ideal candidate will be organized, safety-conscious, and able to handle physical tasks, while actively maintaining accurate inventory records to support the company's operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Shipping and Receiving:
- Receive incoming shipments, verify contents against purchase orders, and inspect for damages or discrepancies.
- Prepare and package outgoing shipments, ensuring all items are securely packaged and labeled correctly.
- Coordinate with transportation companies to schedule deliveries and pickups.
- Maintain accurate records of all received and shipped goods in the inventory management system.
- Process returns and exchanges, ensuring the proper documentation is completed.
- Inventory Management:
- Maintain accurate inventory levels by regularly conducting physical counts and assisting with stock audits to ensure accuracy in records.
- Track inventory movement within the warehouse, ensuring that materials are stored properly and easily accessible.
- Work closely with the production team to notify them of any inventory shortages, delays, or stock discrepancies that could impact manufacturing.
- Update inventory records in real time and reconcile discrepancies between physical counts and system data.
- Ensure proper labeling and categorization of materials to facilitate easy identification and efficient retrieval.
- Documentation and Compliance:
- Accurately complete shipping and receiving paperwork, including Bills of Lading, packing slips, and shipping labels.
- Ensure that all transactions are recorded in compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Ensure that all safety and regulatory requirements are met during shipping and receiving operations.
- Customer Service:
- Collaborate with the customer service and production teams to resolve any issues related to product shipping, receiving, or inventory.
- Assist in tracking and updating customers on the status of their orders and shipments as needed.
- Safety and Cleanliness:
- Adhere to all safety guidelines, operating procedures, and company policies to maintain a safe and organized warehouse environment.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area, ensuring the warehouse remains free of hazards.
- Use and maintain all safety equipment, including personal protective gear.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior experience in shipping and receiving, warehouse operations, or inventory management, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with millwork products and terminology is a plus.
- Ability to operate material handling equipment (e.g., forklift, pallet jack).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage inventory and reconcile discrepancies.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks as needed.
- Forklift certification or the ability to obtain one is preferred.
- Basic computer skills, including knowledge of inventory management software (ERP systems) or the willingness to learn.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, bend, and lift materials for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and move heavy items, up to 50 lbs, regularly.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
Work Environment:
This position will primarily be based in a warehouse environment with exposure to varying temperatures and conditions. Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided and must be worn at all times.
