What are the responsibilities and job description for the R&D Biologics Co-op position at LeMaitre?
Overview
The Research & Development Co-Op will work side-by-side with R&D Engineers in the design and development of new devices. This position will utilize chemistry lab techniques and equipment to analyze chemical and biological samples, develop and validate new analytical methods and also involves the handling and analysis of biological tissue. Additional tasks include keeping a detailed laboratory notebook, learning about the design process for medical devices, and developing manufacturing processes for production.
Responsibilities
- Perform analysis on tissue including DNA extraction, histology and chemical extractions.
- Create and maintain cell lines for ISO 10993 testing.
- Assist engineers with the handling and dissection of tissue.
- Perform mechanical testing and develop new fixtures for future testing.
- Perform analytical testing of new solutions using UV-vis, HPLC and GC-FID
Qualifications
Experience with handling chemicals, operating laboratory equipment, and general lab knowledge is required. Knowledge of UV-Vis, GC, HPLC, or tissue processing is a plus.
