The Clinical Dietitian is responsible for ensuring high-quality nutritional care for both inpatients and outpatients. This includes conducting comprehensive nutritional assessments and evaluations, providing dietary recommendations based on findings, and offering counseling and educational guidance to patients. They design, oversee, and continuously update individualized nutrition care plans, making necessary adjustments and monitoring progress. Additionally, the Clinical Dietitian implements nutrition therapy orders, ensuring proper execution while observing and evaluating patient adherence, acceptance, and tolerance of prescribed nutrition therapy. Regular reassessments help refine treatment plans to meet patients’ evolving needs. Beyond direct patient care, the Dietitian also manages the planning and administration of the nutrition office, ensuring efficient operations and adherence to best practices.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
- Passed the registration exam as administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (or plan to do so within 6 months of hire).
- Must hold a current, valid, and active license and/or certification to practice as a Registered Dietitian (RD) in Texas.
- Must be current on Continuing Professional Education requirements that maintain RD license.
- Registration with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
- A minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
Additional Skills and Qualifications:
- Knowledge of contemporary dietetics principles and practices.
- Familiarity with hospital food service safety and sanitation standards is a plus.
- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
- Understanding of regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
- Strong skills in organization, prioritization, and analysis.
- Ability to make sound independent decisions when necessary.
- Proficiency in computer systems and software relevant to job duties.
