About the role:
The Senior Royalty Underwriter will be based in our West Palm Beach office and will report directly to the EVP of Operations. This role is responsible for managing the end-to-end process of a customer's deal and identifying any risks that may affect the assignment of royalties. The Senior Royalty Underwriter will play a crucial role in mitigating risks, keeping all internal interested parties apprised of deal status, and ensuring smooth operations within the Royalty Underwriting team.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of 20-30 customer files, overseeing the entire process from contract review to funding
- Conduct a thorough review and underwriting of customer files within 24 hours of receiving the executed contract
- Process and evaluate customer applications, utilizing analytical skills and internal/market guidelines for accurate assessment
- Communicate effectively with clients, outside vendors/royalty payors, and financial institutions to gather necessary information for assignment completion
- Assist Royalty Specialist with general inquiries and provide them with relevant information as needed throughout the process
- Collaborate with other areas of Music Operations to support the department's daily operational workflow and ensure seamless coordination
- Review reports to identify outstanding items and follow up with royalty payors for resolution
- Use review checklist for underwriting accuracy
- Track pending items from customers and update our SFDC records in a timely manner
- Analyze credit and search reports, interpreting the gathered information and taking appropriate actions
- Process cash advances or loan payoffs to clear title to royalty payments
- Keep Royalty Specialists informed of the status and outstanding items related to each deal
- Identify and raise potential issues with customer transactions, working collaboratively with sales and management to find resolutions
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field is preferred
- 5 years of experience as an Underwriter or in a similar role within the financial industry
- Strong understanding of risk assessment and underwriting principles
- Knowledge of royalty assignments and music industry is advantageous
- Excellent analytical and decision-making skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy
- Proficiency in using CRM systems and other relevant software applications
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Manage a portfolio of 20-30 files
- Work closely with EVP of Operations and Underwriting Team
- Provide support with various tasks related to the day-to-day functions of the department
- Work on all management priority contracts
