ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Reconciliation & Cash Management:
- Prepare and facilitate daily, weekly, and monthly cash reconciliations, ensuring alignment between bank statements, internal financial records and actual cash disbursements.
- Maintain fixed asset and prepaid expense ledgers and prepare monthly fixed asset and prepaid expense amortization entries.
- Investigate and resolve transaction discrepancies, settlements, and payment issues to minimize financial risk and enhance operational efficiency.
- Calculate and provide directions for daily cash movements to external partners based on loan-level details.
- Ensure real-time anomaly detection and audit-ready reconciliation logs by implementing daily reconciliation best practices, particularly for high-volume transactions.
- Maintain segregation of duties and control measures to prevent errors, fraud, or misstatements in cash disbursements and reconciliations.
Process Optimization & Automation:
- Collaborate with IT and Operations teams to develop and enhance automated reconciliation processes, reducing reliance on manual interventions.
- Implement exception handling frameworks, ensuring discrepancies are categorized, investigated, and escalated efficiently.
- Drive process improvements by benchmarking against financial best practices and identifying areas for automation and workflow enhancements.
Compliance & Financial Controls:
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls to ensure compliance with financial agreements and industry standards.
- Act as a subject matter expert (SME) on policies and procedures related to customer payments reconciliations, and cash movements.
- Collaborate with finance, treasury, and audit teams to support regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and financial reporting accuracy.
- Maintain detailed reconciliation logs with audit-ready documentation, following best-in-class reporting and transparency standards.
Cross-functional Collaboration & Reporting:
- Work closely with finance, treasury, accounting, and external partners to support month-end close, variance analysis, and cash reconciliation needs.
- Provide timely and detailed insights and reports to senior management, ensuring data-driven decision-making.
- Support ad hoc financial projects and audits related to reconciliation, cash movement, and payment processing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or other related field of study preferred.
- 3 years of professional experience in related field.
- Financial services industry experience preferred (e.g., banking, lending, fintech).
- Strong understanding of reconciliation best practices and controls.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced functions such as VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and advanced formulas).
- Experience with reconciliation automation tools, ERP systems, or accounting software is a plus.
