General Manager

THE POSITION

A General Manager at LendingTree is tasked with overseeing a line of business within the LendingTree’s financial comparison marketplace. The GM operates in a matrixed organization and is responsible for collaborating with Marketing, Product, Analytics, Technology and Sales to develop, innovate and grow the business. Additionally, the GM will be accountable for improving the consumer journey to drive a seamless and enjoyable shopping experience. This role will be considered for 2 separate verticals: investments and small business.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Be fanatically passionate about a line of business in personal finance/Fintech space. Live and breathe the industry, the consumer and data to build a stronger business.
• Results-driven executive responsible for driving and managing the day-to-day operations, ultimately driving the P&L for the business line
• Understand and be able to articulate current state as well as future roadmap of the product flawlessly and thoroughly. Be a forward-thinking thought- and strategy leader for the line of business. Ask and brainstorm "what will it take to double the business?" Make smart ROI driven business trade-offs.  Identify calculated risk taking and regularly displaying proven entrepreneurial skills. 
• Formulate both product roadmaps and businesses cases. Capable of evaluating “buy, build, partner” scenarios.
• Comfortable seeking out new opportunities for expansion and growth 
• Conduct consumer research; work with consumer insights and UX team to build products based on consumer data and personas. Care about our consumers and demonstrate passion to provide the best consumer experience.
• Highly analytical. Know the data inside and out. Be very comfortable with unit economics lender data, consumer trends and economics of the business.
• Ability to delegate responsibilities as needed to ensure delivery of initiatives 
• Manage short term needs and goals with eyes on long term goals
• Think in a causal fashion to understand what happened and why.  Use effectuation skills to understand what we have and ask "what if?" to dream big.
• Capable of resolving internal staff conflicts efficiently and to the mutual benefit of all involved
• Be ready and able to set strategic direction yet willing to dig in to execute on goals with immense sense of ownership. 

QUALIFICATIONS

• 8+ years industry experience
• Proven experience in a managerial role with ability to motivate people and hold employees accountable
• Knowledge of the OKR methodology a plus
• Able to meet lofty goals and drive revenue and other KPI growth for a product with sharp focus on numbers
• Ability to create and sustain a high-performance business line
• Strong growth mentality with proactive mindset
• Ability to lead in a matrixed environment with empowerment. Able to hold his/her own when differences arise
• Able to communicate effectively and succinctly to internal and external partners
• Good grasp on industry landscape, players, top issues affecting industry and the competition
• Solid understanding of different business functions
• Experience as an industry speaker or spokesperson preferred
• Executive presence. Able to defend your positions with company senior executives
• Some travel may be required, as we have offices scattered throughout the United States
• MBA preferred; A degree in marketing and/or technology is a solid plus
