What are the responsibilities and job description for the Professional Geologist position at Lennon Smith Souleret Engineering?
LSSE Civil Engineers and Surveyors (established 1985), a dynamic and growing 160-person civil engineering firm serving over 150 regional municipal clients, water and sewer authorities, private development, industry, and utilities is accepting applications for a motivated Professional Geologist. Though our Clarion office is preferred, this position can be based out of our Coraopolis (headquarters), Greensburg, Albion, Harmar, or Kittanning offices as well.
- Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in geology or related field
- GIT required; PG in Pennsylvania is preferred
- At least 5 years’ relevant experience
- Geological mapping and survey techniques
- Knowledge of mining and related topics including but not limited to:
- Open-pit mining
- Strip mining
- Blasting plans and notices
- Groundwater
- Surface water
- Water collection and testing
- Dust sampling
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations (PA required, OH a plus)
- Experience with related submissions and permits (NPDES, HOP, PNDI, GP 104, etc.)
- Understanding of wetland delineation, mitigation, etc.
- Interaction with related agencies: DEP, EPA, Army Corp of Engineers, etc.
- Ability to conduct fieldwork in various terrains and weather conditions
- Experience with ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and/or hydrologic/hydraulic software a plus.
- Responsibilities include project management and client interactions.
