Salary : $27.50 per hour
Under the supervision of the Administrative Kitchen Manager and Chef de Cuisine, the E-Bike Runner / Dishwasher is responsible for ensuring that the Lenox Hill Food Services department meets its goal of providing nutritious, quality meals for clients and, when appropriate, staff and other members of the Lenox Hill community. This E-Bike Runner / Dishwasher will perform duties for our two Senior programs (which serve breakfast, lunch and dinner), Shelter, and our Early Childhood Center. The E-Bike Runner / Dishwasher must be flexible and adaptable to change to support the changing nature of the Neighborhood House’s Food Services department.
The Dishwasher / Runner’s primary responsibilities are delivering meals (with carts and via e-bike) to our Early Childhood Center classrooms, Older Adult Centers, and Women’s Mental Health Shelter, as well as washing dishes and maintaining kitchen cleanliness, receiving and stocking food deliveries, and providing assistance to food service staff.
- Deliver all meals to our Early Childhood Center, Older Adult Centers, and Women’s Mental Health Shelter at the Park Avenue Armory via Electric Cargo Bike .
- Maintain a regular dish washing schedule to ensure Cooks are prepared for food preparation and service and maintaining kitchen inventory
- Ensure that proper sanitation and cleaning schedules are adhered to regularly.
- Assist with receiving and properly storing all food deliveries.
- Support Cooks in packing meals and all cleaning up at end of meal service and staff events.
- Familiarize themselves with food service needs for the day and upcoming days to ensure that all production needs are met.
- Ensure that safety guidelines in the kitchen are followed at all times. Comply with all food handling procedures, those of the Department of Health as well as those of the Neighborhood House.
- Maintain current Food Handling certificates and adhere to departmental dress code.
- Maintain composure and work effectively in a busy work environment.
- Adapt to floating and working in two kitchens in separate adjacent buildings as needed.
- Assist in setting up and maintaining meal service areas
- Support with food preparation and packaging as needed
- Ensure meals are properly stored and labeled for safety
- Provide general support for the kitchen duties to ensure smooth operations
In addition to the above, the E-Bike Runner / Dishwasher will perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein as assigned by the Administrative Kitchen Manager and Chef de Cuisine.
Hours of Operation :
The E-Bike Runner / Dishwasher will work full-time on weekdays from 11 : 00 am.- 7 : 00 pm and on weekends from 7 am-to 3 pm. The schedule will also vary to ensure the best coverage of food services functions, flexibility is required.
Qualifications :
High School diploma or GED plus a minimum of one year of food service experience. Able to lift at least 50lbs. Required to be able to use electric bike. Ability to navigate bike through inner city traffic. A Food Protection and Sanitation certificate from the New York City Department of Health. The E-Bike Runner / Dishwasher must be open to career growth and willing to participate in trainings offered.
