Job Summary

The Operations and Performance Improvement (OPI) Analyst at VST plays a crucial role in driving operational improvements across the floor and is responsible for managing OPI initiatives to ensure they are properly identified, planned, sized, and prioritized. It also supports the desks and trading analysts in development of initiatives, primarily through Project Management, coordination, and supporting analyses when needed.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities

OPI Engine

  • Assist in identifying, sizing, and prioritizing operational performance initiatives to enhance trading desk efficiency
  • Monitor the effectiveness of these initiatives and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Coordinate with various stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful execution of initiatives.

Market Research

  • Support desks and trading analysts in advanced analytics use cases by providing program management and coordination.
  • Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
  • Facilitate communication between the analytics team and other departments to ensure smooth execution of projects.

Stakeholder Management

  • Identify and map key internal and external stakeholders to understand their needs and expectations.
  • Work with them to ensure initiatives are properly sized, prioritized, and addressed.
  • Collect and analyze feedback from stakeholders to continuously improve processes and initiatives.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with senior analysts and traders to align analytics initiatives with business priorities
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of trading strategies
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration within the team to support decision-making processes

Education , Experience & Skill Requirements

  • Training in business administration, finance, engineering, or a related field.
  • 3 years of relevant work experience in business analysis, project management, or operations within a trading or financial services context.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis and project management.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with senior analysts, traders, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • A keen interest in the energy trading sector and a willingness to stay updated with market trends and developments.
  • Deep expertise in energy markets, including a strong familiarity with trading commodities and interpreting market, credit, and operational risks across multiple commodities and assets. Demonstrated commitment to staying updated with market trends and developments.

  • Improved operational efficiency and effectiveness across the trading floor.
