The Vehicle Mechanic is based in Purvis, MS with operations in the U.S., and has overall responsibility for the preventive maintenance, repair, and upkeep of the Leonard fleet of vehicles. This position reports directly to the Fleet Maintenance Manager and does not have direct reports.

Job Summary
The Vehicle Mechanic is based in Purvis, MS with operations in the U.S., and has overall responsibility for the preventive maintenance, repair, and upkeep of the Leonard fleet of vehicles. This position reports directly to the Fleet Maintenance Manager and does not have direct reports.
Job Responsibilities
- Conducts regular inspections and preventive maintenance on fleet vehicles, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake checks.
- Diagnoses and repairs mechanical issues with fleet vehicles, including but not limited to engine repair, transmission repair, and electrical system repair.
- Ensures all vehicles are safe and meet all regulatory requirements.
- Conducts safety inspections and makes necessary repairs.
- Maintains accurate records of all maintenance and repair work including parts used, time spent, and any issues identified.
- Manages inventory of parts and supplies and orders new parts as necessary.
- Uses problem-solving skills to identify and fix complex mechanical issues including usage of diagnostic equipment and technical manuals.

Competencies (skills, Knowledge, And Abilities)
- Knowledge of methods, materials, tools and techniques used in the repair of automotive and heavy equipment.
- Knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance procedures.
- Experience in changing fluids, filters, bulbs, tires, and batteries.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the diagnostics and repairs of brake systems, engines, and liftgates.
- Experience operating principles and mechanical repair of engines.
- Proven knowledge of safety practices and procedures.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical problems.
- Excellent attention to details.
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Must be able to PASS drug screen
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certification from a vocational school or apprenticeship preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (if required to test-drive vehicles).
- Proven experience as a maintenance technician, preferably with experience in vehicle maintenance.
This position requires minimal travel.
