At Leonard's Express, Inc. we are looking for a Late-Night Drop Yard Monitor. This position requires both a Class A CDL and experience as a yard jockey. Experience using a forklift is also required, but we are willing to train and certify you if needed. If you can meet these requirements, please consider apply today!

The ideal employee will:
- Maintain weekday/weekend availability, Monday to Friday plus occasional hours on either Saturday or Sunday based on port operations
- This is a second shift position, beginning at 5 pm
- Holiday availability if the holiday falls on a normal workday (additional compensation provided)
- Be forklift certified or be willing to be trained and certified
- Possession of a current and valid Class A CDL is required
The essential duties and responsibilities of the position include:
- Organizes and maintains the arrangement of containers or trailers per the direction of the drop yard supervisor
- Loads and unloads trailers on the cross-dock with a forklift per the direction of the drop yard supervisor
- Maintains product integrity by ensuring reefers are on, fueled, and maintained at the appropriate temperature
- Performs safety checks on the trailers and takes trailers to and from repair shop as needed
- Transports trailers and containers to designated locations at nearby yards (if in possession of Class A license)
- Interacts with other drivers and supervisors in a professional manner regarding placement of containers
- Visually inspects trailers prior to the driver leaving with the trailer and upon the return of the trailer to the yard
- Performs safety checks on the yard tractor and reports any issues to the drop yard supervisor
Requirements
The professional skills and abilities an ideal candidate should possess include:
- Sound organizational, records management, time management skills, and attention to detail
- Good interpersonal and customer service skills, well-developed verbal and written communication skills, plus the ability to work both as an individual contributor and a team member
- The ability to effectively prioritize responsibilities and meet assigned deadlines
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks, as well as to accept direction on given assignments
- Communicates proficiently and effectively to forklift drivers and customer drivers
Based on the technical and professional responsibilities of the position, the Late-Night Drop Yard Monitor is required to have:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- 1 year of relevant experience
- Must hold a current and valid Class A CDL
- Equipment certificates: Forklift, clamp truck, and pallet jack desirable
The Late-Night Drop Yard Monitor is primarily located in a warehouse environment with moderate to high noise levels and may be exposed to varying weather and temperature conditions while traveling. Physical requirements include:
- Regularly lifting up to 25 pounds and up to 80 pounds with assistance
