As a Safety Intern, you’ll work closely with the EHS/Regulatory Director to manage Leslie’s Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Program, gaining hands-on experience in regulatory compliance, workplace safety, and risk management. This role is ideal for individuals who are highly organized, detail-oriented, and eager to develop expertise in safety operations.
Responsibilities:
- Support safety and regulatory compliance by assisting in audits and inspections.
- Manage the safety email inbox, ensuring prompt and professional responses.
- Log inspection reports and initiate follow-up actions.
- Assist with the renewal of city fire and hazardous materials permits.
- Process Chemical Emergency Response (CER) submissions.
- Track and maintain expenses related to permits and inspections.
- Assist with Hazardous Materials Management Plans (HMBP) and Hazardous Material Inventory Statements (HMIS).
- Coordinate fire extinguisher service requests and maintain records.
- Assist with Safety Data Sheet (SDS) updates and retrieval.
- Provide administrative support such as filing, scanning, and document processing.
- Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (expected graduation in Winter 2025 or Spring 2026).
- Previous internship experience in retail, consumer products, or manufacturing environments is preferred.
- Ability to work from our Phoenix, AZ headquarters Tuesday–Thursday (Out-of-state students are welcome to apply if they can attend in-office days).
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Strong work ethic, adaptability, and a passion for driving results.
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
- Moderate lifting of office supplies and equipment as needed.
