Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sous Chef to join our culinary team. You will assist the ownership and GM in managing kitchen operations, supervising staff, and ensuring high-quality food preparation. Your role will be vital in maintaining efficiency, creativity, and consistency in all aspects of kitchen service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Ownership and GM in planning and directing food preparation and all culinary activities.
- Hire, develop, coach team members, making best use of all available resources to support training of all culinary staff
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, working in service 4-5 shifts per week and ensuring all procedures are followed to maintain high food quality and excellence.
- Ensure all dishes are prepared according to established recipes, portion sizes, and presentation standards.
- Collaborate with ownership and GM to create new dishes, specials, and seasonal menus
- Monitor food inventory levels and place orders as needed to maintain stock.
- Train and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including proper food handling and sanitation.
- Work collaboratively with GM in managing kitchen costs, including labor, food waste, and portion control.
- Fun and engaging communication and education with FOH staff on menu items and process.
- Assist GM with scheduling BOH team
- Support food and labor costs, in partnership with GM and ownership.
- Complete ordering and inventory
- Uphold all food safety requirements
- Care for all BOH equipment and support maintenance as needed
Requirements and Skills:
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar role in a high-volume kitchen.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Strong understanding of inventory management and food ordering and procurement systems
- Compassionate and egoless teaching skills and ability to manage a team of kitchen personnel while fostering a healthy and supportive work environment.
- In-depth knowledge of cooking techniques, food safety, and kitchen management.
- Passion for hitting KPI’s around food and labor ratios, inventory management.
- Calm and composed in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality standards.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Hands-on experience with planning menus and ordering ingredients
- Strong familiarity with kitchen sanitation and safety regulations
- Certification from a culinary school or degree in Restaurant Management is a plus.

- Acknowledgement of an intense summer schedule with lighter shoulder season workload
- A willingness to do whatever it takes to accomplish the job at hand
- Self-discipline, initiative and outgoing pleasant, polite manner.
- Minimum 3 years kitchen experience
- Minimum 2 years leading a kitchen team
- Must possess a valid drivers license.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
- Must agree to background check.
