Job Title: Video Production Director
Position Classification: Part Time, Seasonal
Time Commitment: This is a seasonal position requiring commitment to all scheduled dates during the Levitt concert season (May 23 to August 31, 2025). Regular hours are 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings, with occasional Saturday morning shows and festivals. Additional hours will be required for pre-event planning, coordination, and equipment setup.
Compensation: $40 per hour
Location: Levitt Shell, Sioux Falls, SD (in-person)
Reports To: Operations Manager
Position Overview: The Video Production Director for the Levitt Shell in Sioux Falls is responsible for leading all aspects of video production during live events, including concerts, community gatherings, and special presentations. This role requires a creative and technical leader who can capture the energy and atmosphere of live performances, ensuring high-quality video content that enhances the audience experience and promotes the Levitt Shell’s mission.
Responsibilities:Live Event Video Production:
- Direct video production for concerts and events at the Levitt Shell, ensuring high-quality visuals for in-house screens, live streaming, and promotional materials.
- Operate or oversee the operation of cameras, switching equipment, and audio-video systems during concerts and events.
- Coordinate with performers, event staff, and technical crews to ensure seamless integration of video production into live shows.
Pre-Event Planning:
- Collaborate with the Levitt Staff and production team to plan video production requirements for each event.
- Conduct site evaluations to identify optimal camera placements and technical setups.
- Create production schedules and ensure all equipment is ready and operational before events.
Team Leadership:
- Recruit, schedule, train, and manage a team of camera operators for all concerts and events.
- Provide clear direction and maintain effective communication during high-pressure, fast-paced live productions.
Content Creation and Technical Oversight:
- Capture footage that can be repurposed for promotional videos, social media, and event archives.
- Edit post-event videos to highlight performances, audience engagement, and event success as needed.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade video production equipment, ensuring all systems are in excellent working condition.
- Stay up to date on live video production technologies to enhance the quality and efficiency of operations.
Key Qualifications:Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Film Production, Media, Broadcasting, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience in live event (preferably concert) video production, including directing multi-camera setups.
Skills and Competencies:
- Expertise in live video production tools and software (Blackmagic Design HD8 ecosystem).
- Strong leadership and team management skills, especially under the pressures of live events.
- Knowledge of camera operation, lighting, and audio integration for live performances.
- Demonstrate a strong sense of musicality and timing, with the ability to anticipate and capture key moments in live music performances, ensuring dynamic and engaging concert livestreams.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues in real time.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with outdoor event production.
- Familiarity with streaming live performances on social media platforms.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift, push, and carry 50 pounds; stand for extended periods of time; and traverse the grounds of an outside, sloped venue in all kinds of weather.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Must be able and willing to work all events, including regular evenings and weekends during the summer.
