LC State invites applications for the position of Landscape Foreman.
Salary and rank based on experience and qualifications: $23.08 - $25.00 per hour
Required Qualifications:
- At least five (5) years experience in grounds maintenance work.
- Considerable knowledge of landscaping, grounds maintenance, and related safety practices.
- Experience in irrigation system layout, design, installation, and maintenance.
- Some knowledge of supervisory practices.
- Grounds equipment operation, maintenance, and repair.
- Mixing and safe use of landscaping chemicals.
- Experience with plant and soil types, horticulture, and professional landscaping practices.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- A valid driver's license is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree in a related field.
- Experience in preparing records and reports.
Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for supervising daily operations of landscape staff; provides training; evaluates performance; establishes work priorities, organizes work schedules, and determines duty assignment so there is little adverse impact on daily operations; monitors work habits of staff to ensure work quality and productivity; implements quality assurance programs to ensure duties are being performed and safety practices followed.
2. Provide training on landscaping activities.
3. Plans and designs landscaping and grounds activities, and ensures work is accomplished according to plan and schedule.
4. Requisitions and inventories of tools, supplies, and equipment, organizes cost estimates for grounds-related expenses.
5. Ensures safety practices are adhered to.
6. Manage and maintain the irrigation system.
7. Act as a liaison between the grounds department, and the campus community.
8. Responsible for all aspects of landscaping, such as weeding, fertilizing, spraying, mulching, trimming hedges and cutting branches, and mowing lawns.
9. Operate equipment such as front-end loader, dump truck, snow blower, rototiller, multi-winged mower, chain saw, backhoe, trencher, tree spade, and various other power and hand tools associated with landscaping.
10. Maintains equipment including rebuilding small gas engines, greasing and changing oil and filters, checking batteries, belts, chains, and bearings, sharpening blades, and keeping records on tools and equipment used and maintained.
11. Responds to emergency call-backs.
12. Additional duties include direct and indirect activities to support recruitment and retention of students.
