Degree Required:
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Art or Art History, Museum Studies, Education, Business or Public Administration, Communications, or similar with a general interest in and knowledge of the arts
Required Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two (2) years of related professional experience
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Experience with event planning and customer service/public relations
- Proficiency with social media including Facebook and Instagram
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator
Responsibilities:
Summary/Objective of Position
Under the direction of the director of the Center for Arts & History, the program coordinator manages the day-to-day operations of the Center, including assisting with the planning and coordination of exhibitions and programs, supervising student staff and volunteers, supporting marketing efforts, and managing administrative tasks. This position will staff the galleries or events as needed during regular gallery hours and occasional evenings and weekend dates, to include Art Under the Elms, Grape & Grain, and Beautiful Downtown Lewiston's ArtWalk. In consultation with the director, the program coordinator also participates in campus and community activities to represent the Center and engage audiences in the arts and humanities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Exhibitions and Programs
1. Assists in the research, planning, design, and installation/de-installation of exhibitions and coordinates shipping arrangements
2. Works with the Director to plan and facilitate special events, public programs, and workshops
3. Assists in the planning, coordination, and management of Art Under the Elms arts festival
4. Oversees and coordinates all contractual agreements for exhibits, performers, and other services related to the Center's operations
5. Assists in the development and distribution of programming and marketing materials
6. Utilizes social media and local/regional event listings to promote the Center's exhibitions and programs to the campus community and the public
7. Helps to maintain content on the Center's website
8. Works with the Director to offer group tours, field trips, school visits, student engagement activities, and community outreach for the Center
Administrative
1. Prepares documents, correspondence, and reports pertaining to the Center
2. Provides administrative support for financial tasks such as processing travel expense claims, compiling P-card logs, maintaining budget paperwork, and working with the Controller's Office
3. Maintains files, images, and mailing lists relating to membership, exhibitions, and programs
4. Helps to recruit and supervise student employees and external volunteers
5. May represent the Center at meetings, events, and conferences
6. Performs other duties as assigned that are appropriate for the position
7. Additional duties include direct and indirect activities to support the recruitment and retention of students

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%. The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the building to access file cabinets, office machinery, or staff galleries on either of the two floors, etc. Must be able to operate a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine/scanner, computer printer, projector, and television. The person in this position frequently communicates with students, faculty, staff, and community members who have inquiries about the programs and institution and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Frequently moves program supplies or artwork weighing up to 40 pounds within the Center, to the loading area, or across campus for various event needs. Needs to be able to climb a ladder to help install exhibitions. Will occasionally work in outdoor weather conditions for special events.
Additional duties include direct and indirect activities to support the recruitment and retention of students.
