- Lead the team, including Asst. General Forepersons and Forepersons, ensuring successful production results and creating and a positive team environment.
- Work Oversight & Safety
- Plan and manage production, bid new work, understanding revenue targets
- Work together with utility foresters/inspectors to clarify work specifications, coordinate work audits/inspections and address customers issues
- Visit work sites frequently. Review the Pre-Job Hazard Survey at each job site; inspect work in progress and ensure it conforms to standards; enforce on the job safety practices
- Takes lead role in safety to ensure the well-being of employees, customers and the public.
- Personnel Management
- Ensures that employees receive training to prepare for job assignments
- Appraises performance of employees to communicate expectations and provide constructive feedback as a means for improvement
- Identify and develop high potential employees for leadership succession
- Maintain records and documentation related to man-hours; equipment and tool use; material inventory and storage; accident/incident reports; property-related permission and permits; customer records; labor disputes; and other job-specific records
- Collaborate with the Corporate office for time keeping, billing, employee relations, contract support and recruiting
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Leadership experience in the utility line clearance industry at the Foreperson or Asst. General Foreperson position
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of trees including identification, growth habits and correct arboriculture techniques for the trimming, pruning, repairing, maintaining and removing, as applicable to working in close proximity to energized conductors.
- Understanding of drawings and symbols representing types of lines, voltage, line equipment, etc.
- Ability to perform physical labor such as lifting a minimum of 50 lbs. to shoulder height or more.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Willing and able to obtain specialized training and certifications as required, such as:
- Local, state and federal licenses
- First Aid and CPR cards
- Pass a pre-employment drug test and job duty skills tests
- ISA certified arborist license required
