About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Arborist Crew Leader to join our team at Lewis Tree Service, Inc. As a key member of our crew, you will be responsible for leading a tight-knit team and creating a positive team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a crew of arborists and ensure the safe and efficient completion of tree trimming, removal, and spraying tasks.
- Interpret tree trimming, removal, and spraying orders initiated by General Foreman or customer representatives.
- Plan and layout daily work for your crew, considering factors such as time required to complete work, clean-up time, equipment availability, weather conditions, and customer permissions.
- Perform Pre-Job Hazard Surveys at each job site with all crew members and assign work tasks based on individual knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Climb trees and operate a bucket for trimming and removals in and above power lines.
- Prepare, operate, and maintain all tools and equipment, including hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
- Remove limbs and brush, clean up, and dispose of debris.
- Mix and apply spray chemicals to preserve desirable vegetation.
- Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the working area and enforce on-the-job safety practices.
Requirements:
- Two years or more experience working as a Trimmer/Climber, working around utility lines.
- Ability to lead people, including strong communication skills.
- Knowledge of trees, including identification, growth habits, and correct arboriculture techniques for trimming, pruning, repairing, maintaining, and removing trees.
- Experience in tree climbing, knot tying, and PPE.
- Understanding of drawings and symbols representing types of lines, voltage, line equipment, etc.
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting a minimum of 50 lbs. to shoulder height or more.
- Capable of operating two-handed equipment and have the physical ability to endure extreme climate variances.
- Willing and able to obtain specialized training and certifications as required, such as local, state, and federal licenses, First Aid and CPR cards, and a valid Driver's License or CDL.
