Position Summary
The Machine Operator is responsible for operating various machines to assist in the manufacturing of precision components. This intermediate-level position is ideal for those with some experience in a machine shop, as it involves more responsibility, including operating multiple machines and ensuring quality control.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate manual and CNC machines under supervision.
- Load and unload parts into machines and work holding devices.
- Monitor machine operation and perform routine inspections to ensure product quality.
- Adjust machine settings as necessary to ensure parts meet specifications.
- Assist in the preparation of tooling and materials.
- Perform minor maintenance and report any machine issues to the supervisor.
- Use measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers to verify part dimensions.
- Record operational data and ensure accurate documentation of production runs.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean work environment.
- Other duties may be required as assigned by the Company.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 1-2 years of experience in a machine shop preferred.
- Ability to read blueprints and understand basic machining processes.
- Proficiency with measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask and maintain attention to detail.
- Dependable, team-oriented, and motivated to learn more advanced machining skills.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
- Environment: Climate-controlled facility.
- Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand, bend, and lift for extended periods.
- Manual handling of parts weighing up to 75 lbs.
Work Schedule
- Days: Monday through Thursday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM
- Overtime may be required based on product demands.
