Job Description
This position is responsible for maintaining the smooth operation of the column manufacturing processes. The Column Packing Supervisor position focuses primarily on leading the team to manufacture columns and supporting products and to maintain the stock or supply the products for the company’s DNA synthesis reagents, which are supplied to both internal and external customers. This position is responsible for directly working with the NAC Consumables Manager to ensure that all functions of the team are performed in compliance with all company procedures and external regulatory requirements. This position will be directly supervising and supporting the assigned staff, leading by example, and ensuring that all tasks are appropriately defined and documented, and taking ownership for manufacturing and quality control efforts of this team. The Column Packing Manager serves as the technical expert for all products manufactured by this department and interfaces with the QC and QA departments of the company at the Alexandria site and at sister LGC sites to ensure products, and raw materials needed are readily available as needed under controlled protocols or are ordered through a traceable process.

Essential Functions :
The daily tasks of the Column Packing Supervisor include, but are not limited to :
- Manage the priorities of products and projects as directed by the NAC Consumables Manager to affect the day-to-day priorities of the team members, ensuring that the changing needs of the company and customers are always reflected in those priorities.
- Ensure priorities are completed by :
Properly scheduling employee time off requests
Appropriately scheduling maintenance activitiesVerifying equipment is functioning and properly maintainedEffectively communicate and coordinate with internal suppliers, production team members, and production supervisors and managers to assure the most efficient use of time and resourcesEffectively communicate with maintenance team members to ensure production equipment is functional and available for production.Ensure appropriate work instructions are in place as well as write and review manufacturing procedures and documents with the objective of improving production efficiency, complying with applicable quality and safety standards, and to ensure the continuous improvement of processes.Provide effective leadership through :Performance evaluations and goal setting
Active coaching and mentoring of team membersSupplying technical expertise to team membersEnforcing company policy and managing individual performance issuesProactively interface with packaging support group and internal customers to identify and implement areas of continuous improvementExecute on objectives and goals to support a positive, efficient, and motivated teamServe as team expert for the utilization of LGC’s inventory management systemSupport team operations through manufacturing support and process troubleshooting of manufacturing processesResponsible for overseeing the safe use of hazardous chemicals in a manufacturing environment on a daily basisEnsure the availability of raw materials to make products in a timely manner that complies with internal and external customer requirements.Research (with budget), implement, and maintain equipment as needed to perform production tasks at the scales or volumes required by end users.Make recommendations to management as necessary regarding resources required to meet production objectives, including raw materials, equipment, employees, and production space.Periodically review the workload of the team and take necessary measures to streamline processes as needed.Maintain a safe, organized, and clean working space.Provide status reports and updates to the NAC Consumables Manager and Site DirectorOther Duties as Assigned : Responds with flexibility and collaboration to the needs of the business – both internally and externally – by addressing important corporate initiatives when requested by management.

Essential Knowledge & Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and 5 years of demonstrated work experience in a related field including management of manufacturing teamsExperience working in an ISO 9001 or ISO 13485 certified QMS, or equivalent, environmentWorking knowledge or training in Lean or Continuous Improvement conceptsProficient in the usage of Microsoft Office software and inventory management systemProfessional presence and strong attention to detailProven leadership skills in a manufacturing environmentExperience hiring, training, leading and developing employeesPreferred Knowledge & Qualifications :
2 years of experience working as Packaging Support Lead employee, or equivalent department or related fieldExcellent verbal and written communication skillsDemonstrates proficiency to meet the requirements of a Packaging Support SupervisorProficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPointAdditional Information

Minimum : $61,000 annually
Maximum : $102,000 annually
This range represents the low and high end of the anticipated salary range for this position. The actual base salary will depend on several factors such as : experience, skills, and location.
