Position Overview
The Billing Specialist performs tasks essential to the day-to-day operations of the company as a mid-size trucking company. Primary responsibilities include updating records, verifying rates, scanning documents and matching signed bill of ladings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Must effectively carry out the essential duties and responsibilities of this position in a manner that is consistent with LGT Transport’s mission and core values in a positive manner.
- Receive trip information daily through drive axle, email, or fax. Scan and send information to customers as required.
- Create trips based on scans, emails, and faxes. Enter trips accurately and rate trips based on customer rate sheets provided. Ensure trips rate accurately and that unknown variances are identified, researched, and resolved prior to finalizing the invoice.
- Assign trips to driver. Ensure driver pay rates correctly.
- Receive toll invoices monthly. Research corresponding trips. Prepare monthly invoices to customers and send.
- Respond to customer requests regarding invoicing and supporting documentation.
- Receive paper copies of trip reports. Ensure trips have been billed. Send original to customers as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Strong data entry and Microsoft Excel skills
- Problem solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to work within a team based work environment.
- Previous experience working with billing in a transportation environment strongly preferred.
Other Skills/Abilities
- Ability to multi task with frequent interruptions yet remaining calm and tactful while routinely working under pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability and experience using Microsoft Office applications and learning specific billing applications.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer (desk is adjustable standing or sitting desk).
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
