The Home Health Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) plays a vital role in improving the well-being of patients by providing evidence-based treatment and patient education.
Responsibilities:
- Under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, perform treatment and exercises according to the established plan of care.
- Instruct and aid patients in their rehabilitation within the scope of the physical therapy assistant and state laws governing physical therapy assistants.
- Observe, record, and report any changes in the patient's condition to the supervising Physical Therapist, nurse supervisor, and/or physician.
- Coordinate care with other healthcare professionals as necessary.
- Instruct patients, family members, caregivers, and other healthcare team members on therapy areas within the scope of the physical therapy assistant.
- Visit patients within the entire service area and participate in staff conferences and committees as requested.
- Adhere to LHC Therapy Standards of Practice when providing services to all patients.
Education and Experience:
- Current licensure, registration, or certification to assist in the practice of physical therapy in the state of practice.
- Current CPR certification is required.
- Current driver's license, vehicle insurance, and access to a dependable vehicle or public transportation.
