Summary
The Staff Accountant is responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports, and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries for assigned accounts. Attach appropriate support for the journal entry and sign off on all journal entries when complete.
- Accrue appropriate expenses for all assigned accounts.
- Prepare monthly variance analysis on assigned accounts. Communicate variances found to appropriate individuals.
- Respond appropriately and timely on all financial statement questions.
- Reconcile all balance sheet accounts for assigned accounts within the designated timeframe. Maintain appropriate support for all balances.
- Communicate effectively with other departments as well as outside vendors, consultants, etc.
- Prepare monthly JV packets on assigned locations.
- Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met.
- Adhere to all departmental policies and procedures.
Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
· Minimum of one year of accounting experience; healthcare experience preferred.
· Must be highly skilled in use of Excel.
· Must possess high attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.
· Must possess excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal departmental pressures.
· Must possess good communication skills and be able to work within a collaborative team environment.
