Job Title : Cashier (Entry Level) – NJ Payment Center Group
Location : Egg Harbor Township, NJ
Pay Rate : $18.00 per hour
Contract Duration : 6 - 12 months with possibility of extending and / or conversion
Position Overview :
We are seeking an Entry-Level Cashier to join the NJ Payment Center Group located in Egg Harbor Township, NJ . In this role, you will be responsible for processing customer utility payments, maintaining a cash drawer, balancing funds, and making daily bank deposits. Additionally, you will be responsible for researching and correcting misapplied payments and ensuring accurate records are maintained for monthly reporting.
Required Qualifications :
High School Diploma / GED or equivalent education / training / experience.
Knowledge of banking operations, bookkeeping, and basic accounting practices.
Experience using at least one payment processing system (e.g., adding machine, receipting machine, calculator).
Strong communication skills with an ability to interact effectively with others.
Proficiency in basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages).
Ability to travel to alternate locations and support work during emergency situations.
Experience with PC-based word processing, spreadsheet, and email software.
Experience handling customer payments, including entering, processing, and reconciling payments.
Ability to work overtime and be flexible as needed.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with privacy regulations.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Must successfully pass a qualification test (SASS) and Criminal History Records Check.
Preferred Qualifications :
Bilingual (Spanish).
Experience entering data and reconciling errors.
Key Responsibilities :
Operate customer cash processing equipment and systems for cash and check payments.
Balance cash drawer and prepare bank deposits.
Research and locate misapplied payments, adjust accounts for payment posting errors, and process customer deposits.
Maintain daily records and generate monthly reports.
Communicate with various departments to correct, remove, or transfer funds.
Assist in maintaining customer records (update name, mailing address, phone number) and manage confidential records in accordance with regulations.
Perform secondary role assignments during emergency situations, including energy delivery emergencies (24 x 7 coverage).
Physical Requirements :
Ability to sit and / or stand for extended periods and handle customer payments.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to work extended and / or non-standard hours with little notice, especially during emergencies.
