LHH is looking for a full-time Payroll Accountant to join our client growing company in Seattle, WA. This position will be a 6-month contract that is fully onsite at the client location.
Job Title: Payroll Accountant
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Payroll Accountant to join our team. The Payroll Accountant will be responsible for overseeing payroll operations, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, and maintaining accurate financial records related to payroll. This role requires strong accounting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
Process and review payroll transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies.
Maintain and update payroll records, including wages, deductions, benefits, and tax withholdings.
Prepare and process direct deposits, tax filings, and wage garnishments.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and tax laws.
Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare journal entries for financial reporting.
Address payroll discrepancies and resolve employee concerns regarding wages, deductions, and benefits.
Collaborate with the HR and Finance departments to ensure accurate reporting and reconciliation.
Generate payroll reports and provide financial analysis as needed.
Stay up to date with changes in payroll regulations and best practices.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
Proven experience as a Payroll Accountant, Payroll Specialist, or similar role.
Proficiency in payroll and accounting software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Workday, QuickBooks) and MS Excel.
Strong knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and accounting principles.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
Compensation: $30-$35/hour DOE
