LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a client to hire a seasonal Tax Preparation Specialist for a contract opportunity in San Francisco, CA. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and filing individual and small business tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong technical knowledge in tax preparation, exceptional client service skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities :
Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, businesses, and organizations.
Review financial records such as income statements, balance sheets, and tax documents to ensure completeness and accuracy.
Provide tax planning advice to clients and help them minimize liabilities by staying up-to-date with tax law changes.
Communicate with clients to gather necessary documents and clarify any discrepancies or missing information.
Ensure compliance with tax laws, regulations, and deadlines, while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
Offer guidance on tax-saving strategies and deductions available for different tax situations.
Respond to client inquiries and provide assistance with tax-related issues and audits.
Assist clients with IRS correspondence and notices when necessary.
Stay informed on changes in tax laws, forms, and regulations that may impact clients.
Collaborate with the accounting and finance team to ensure tax filings align with financial records.
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
2 years of experience in tax preparation or public accounting, with a focus on individual and small business returns.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations and filing requirements.
Proficiency with tax preparation software (e.g., ProSeries, Lacerte, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to clients.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with tight deadlines.
Certification as a Tax Preparer or Enrolled Agent (EA) is a plus, but not required.
Familiarity with San Francisco and California-specific tax regulations is a plus.
