Trusts and Estates Tax Attorney – Charleston, SC
A boutique law firm in Charleston, South Carolina, is seeking a Trusts and Estates Tax Attorney with at least five years of experience in complex estate planning, estate/gift tax, and corporate and personal wealth tax planning. The ideal candidate will have expertise in advising high-net-worth individuals, business owners, and families. Candidates must be admitted to the South Carolina Bar. Certification as a tax or estate planning specialist is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement estate plans for high-net-worth clients
- Counsel fiduciaries on probate and trust administration
- Handle contested estate and trust matters
- Review and manage estate and gift tax returns, including complex reporting and valuation issues
- Assist clients in establishing private foundations and other charitable entities
The candidate should be skilled in drafting a wide range of estate planning documents, including wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, powers of attorney, and premarital agreements. Experience with family limited partnerships, LLCs, shareholder agreements, and complex business transactions is required. Additionally, familiarity with advanced planning tools such as IDGTs, SLATs, CRTs, CLTs, GRATs, QPRTs, FLPs, and SCINs is necessary.
