We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Compliance Manager to join our team in the property management industry. Based in South Seattle, the Compliance Manager will play a critical role in ensuring that our operations align with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company policies. Key Responsibilities:
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, including housing regulations, building codes, fair housing laws, and environmental requirements.
- Stay updated on changes in property management laws and regulations and communicate these changes to the team.
- Prepare and oversee audits to ensure adherence to compliance standards.
- Policy Development and Implementation:
- Develop, implement, and update compliance policies and procedures.
- Train staff on compliance requirements, policies, and best practices.
- Conduct regular reviews of internal processes to identify potential compliance risks and recommend solutions.
- Risk Management:
- Monitor and assess risks related to regulatory non-compliance.
- Investigate compliance-related incidents and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain detailed records of compliance activities and audits.
- Vendor and Contract Oversight:
- Review vendor contracts and ensure third-party compliance with relevant standards.
- Monitor service providers to verify compliance with applicable regulations and agreements.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with property managers, maintenance staff, and senior leadership to foster a culture of compliance.
- Provide guidance and support to staff on complex compliance issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, real estate, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3 years of experience in compliance, property management, or a related role.
- Strong knowledge of housing laws, fair housing regulations, and property management industry standards.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to train and advise staff at all levels.
- Proficiency in property management software and compliance tracking tools is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in compliance management or property management (e.g., Certified Property Manager (CPM), Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP)).
- Experience managing compliance for affordable housing or government-subsidized properties.
