Job Title: Compliance Manager

Location: South Seattle, WA

Compensation: Starting at $80,000 annually, DOE (Depends on Experience)

Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Compliance Manager to join our team in the property management industry. Based in South Seattle, the Compliance Manager will play a critical role in ensuring that our operations align with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company policies. Key Responsibilities:

  • Regulatory Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, including housing regulations, building codes, fair housing laws, and environmental requirements.
  • Stay updated on changes in property management laws and regulations and communicate these changes to the team.
  • Prepare and oversee audits to ensure adherence to compliance standards.
  • Policy Development and Implementation:
  • Develop, implement, and update compliance policies and procedures.
  • Train staff on compliance requirements, policies, and best practices.
  • Conduct regular reviews of internal processes to identify potential compliance risks and recommend solutions.
  • Risk Management:
  • Monitor and assess risks related to regulatory non-compliance.
  • Investigate compliance-related incidents and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain detailed records of compliance activities and audits.
  • Vendor and Contract Oversight:
  • Review vendor contracts and ensure third-party compliance with relevant standards.
  • Monitor service providers to verify compliance with applicable regulations and agreements.
  • Team Collaboration:
  • Work closely with property managers, maintenance staff, and senior leadership to foster a culture of compliance.
  • Provide guidance and support to staff on complex compliance issues.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, real estate, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3 years of experience in compliance, property management, or a related role.
  • Strong knowledge of housing laws, fair housing regulations, and property management industry standards.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to train and advise staff at all levels.
  • Proficiency in property management software and compliance tracking tools is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in compliance management or property management (e.g., Certified Property Manager (CPM), Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP)).
  • Experience managing compliance for affordable housing or government-subsidized properties.
