LHH is seeking a Director of Product Development for a large light manufacturing company in Albuquerque, New Mexico. As the Director you will oversee engineering and product management teams to drive the creation of innovative lighting solutions and product line extensions. This role covers the entire product lifecycle, from concept to market success, ensuring alignment with customer needs and growth objectives. This position is onsite Monday-Friday.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Guide engineering and product management teams to meet customer needs and sales projections while driving innovation and efficiency.
- Manage both internal and external resources to deliver high-quality, cost-effective lighting solutions on schedule.
- Create and manage product offerings that align with customer needs and growth strategies.
- Design and execute strategies to identify customer needs and market trends for innovative product concepts.
- Oversee relationships with global resources and vendors, particularly Chinese manufacturers, to ensure timely and cost-effective product development.
- Analyze product ROI, oversee development costs, and manage the entire lifecycle from initial concept through market success.
- Coach, train, and mentor direct and indirect reports, participating in hiring, evaluations, and performance management processes.
- Collaborate on technical materials, design specifications, and engineering requirements to support product launches and sales strategies.
- Optimize schedules for production, pilot runs, and initial order quantities while addressing barriers to project completion.
- Partner with sales, purchasing, and marketing teams to achieve product and company goals.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Management, or a related technical field.
- 10-15 years of experience in lighting product development or management.
- Direct experience working with overseas manufacturers; preference is given to candidates with experience managing partnerships with Asian manufacturers.
- Expertise in market research, project management, and ROI analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CAD software.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
