What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grant Accountant position at LHH?
LHH Recruitment Solutions is assisting our client in their search for a Grant Accountant. The Grants Accountant should have strong research grant experience from agencies like the NIH and NSF. This is a long term contract position (18 months ) and will operate on a hybrid schedule (3 days in office, 2 remote).
Job Description:
- Maintaining accounting and reporting records for grants and contracts from federal, state, industry, and other awarding entities
- Creating new general and subsidiary ledger accounts in the ERP system to track externally funded research and other sponsored activities expenditures
- Reviewing sponsored programs award criteria (determining account and grant attributes, length of award, and reporting requirements)
- Ensuring awarded amounts and expended amounts are recorded in the right accounts
- Monitoring sponsored programs expenditure activity for compliance with award budgets, sponsor requirements, and company policies
- Approving purchase requisitions, travel expense vouchers, and Action Forms
- Reviewing proper object code use, budget balance, and compliance
- Transferring budget and expenses among budget line items
- Preparing billing reports and invoices according to grant and contract terms
- Interpreting award terms and conditions
- Managing cost share accounts associated with grant awards
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
- 3 years of accounting experience
- Experience in a research grant and contract department
- Knowledge of Uniform Guidance regulations and requirements
- Proficiency in MS Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP's)
- Proficiency in grant billing systems
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Exceptional level of accuracy
- Strong communication skills - both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently as well as with a team
