LHH is leading the search for a Manager of Automation and Power on behalf of our client, a premier water midstream solutions provider. Based in Midland, TX, this role offers a strategic leadership opportunity, overseeing a team responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of critical electrical and power distribution systems. Reporting directly to the SVP of Operations, this role plays a central role in ensuring operational excellence, safety, and technical innovation across multiple company sites. Our client offers competitive compensation between $155-180k, depending on experience, plus a discretionary bonus.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of electrical engineers and technicians, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Oversee daily operations, including work assignments, performance evaluations, and professional development, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
Project & Systems Management
Manage electrical projects from design through implementation, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are consistently met.Collaborate with project teams to incorporate automation expertise, leveraging technologies to enhance system efficiency and reliability.Electrical System Oversight
Optimize electrical systems and power distribution networks, ensuring reliability and efficiency.Lead preventive maintenance initiatives, troubleshoot system issues, and perform final testing of electrical and control systems.Design and deploy automation solutions with PLCs and SCADA platforms, including Ignition SCADA, to enhance monitoring and operational control.Safety, Compliance, and Risk Management
Ensure all electrical systems and projects comply with industry regulations, safety standards, and internal protocols.Conduct safety audits and implement risk assessments, developing safety protocols and leading incident investigations when necessary.Financial Oversight
Develop and manage the power and electrical department’s budget, identifying cost-saving opportunities and improving energy efficiency.Establish vendor relationships and approve relevant expenditures.Documentation and Reporting
Maintain accurate records of electrical systems, maintenance activities, and project progress.Provide regular performance and project status reports, presenting insights and recommendations to senior leadership.Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical engineering or power management, with deep expertise in instrumentation, control systems, and SCADA technologies.At least 3 years of experience supervising teams of engineers and operators, and managing large-scale electrical projects.Proficiency in Allen Bradley RSLogix-5000, and electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, ETAP).Knowledge of industry standards (NEC, NFPA, IEEE), with strong project management skills in budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.Ability to travel to various field sites as required.Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.Experience with additional automation protocols and platforms such as Wonderware, Modbus, and Profibus.
Salary : $155,000 - $180,000
