Position Summary
The Manager, Automation & Power will lead the efforts for Pilot Water Solutions with the opportunity to grow a team to current business needs and strategize for future growth. This role involves managing a team of electrical engineers and technicians, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and optimizing the performance of electrical infrastructure. You will be responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of electrical systems and power distribution networks within the organization. This person will lead and provide multidisciplinary support, project coordination and general expertise regarding instrumentation, PLCs as well as SCADA. Compensation commensurate with experience. This role will report directly to the SVP Operations and be based out of Midland, Texas with expected travel to other company sites and areas of operations.

Essential Job Requirements
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of electrical engineers and technicians.
- Manage the daily activities of the power and electrical team, including work assignments, performance evaluations, and professional development.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment
Project Management:
- Oversee the design, planning, and execution of electrical projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required standards.
- Coordinate with other departments, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met.
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resources.
- Collaborates with project teams to understand requirements and provide automation expertise.
Electrical System Management:
- Ensure the reliability and efficiency of electrical systems and power distribution networks.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve electrical issues in a timely manner.
- Implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend the life of electrical equipment.
- Performs final acceptance testing/checkouts- point to point checkout of electrical and control systems.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all electrical systems and installations comply with industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.
- Develop and enforce safety protocols for the electrical team.
Budgeting and Cost Control:
- Prepare and manage the budget for the power and electrical department.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and energy efficiency improvements.
- Approve expenditures and manage vendor relationships.
Automation and Technical Expertise:
- Provide technical guidance and support to the electrical team and other departments.
- Stay updated on the latest industry trends, technologies, and regulations.
- Lead the evaluation and implementation of new technologies and systems.
- Designs and develops open architecture automation system using LCs.
- Develops and implements projects using Ignition SCADA for monitoring and control.
- Creates loop check documentation and facility hand off documentation.
- Leads efforts to carry out FATs and SATs
- Establishes historian in SCADA and assimilate the data acquired to trend equipment performance.
- Provides field support to determine system malfunctions and apply corrective actions.
- Adds end devices and associated comms to existing systems.
- Provides services to upgrade plc systems.
- Generates scope, interface and engage with Vendor community to implement new SCADA systems.
- Leads efforts to carry out FATs and SATs
- Establishes historian in SCADA and assimilate the data acquired to trend equipment performance.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of electrical systems, projects, and maintenance activities.
- Prepare regular reports on system performance, project status, and departmental metrics.
- Present findings and recommendations to senior management.
- Participates in other assigned duties and projects based on business needs.
- Leads SCADA layout and conversion.
- Provides technical support and training to end-users and team members.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical engineering or power management, working with Instrumentation and Controls.
- Minimum 3 years of Supervisory experience leading teams of programmers and operators, and experience in managing large-scale electrical projects.
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science or related field.
- Experience managing projects and implementations.
- Worked as a programmer in SCADA and DCS Systems.
- Worked as a systems integrator using Ignition, Wonderware, Simatic, iFIX and or Intellution.
- Participated in PHAs, HAZOPs and PSSRs.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, power distribution, and control systems.
- Proficiency in using electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD,ETAP).
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e.g., NEC, NFPA,IEEE).
- Strong project management skills, with experience in budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team management
- Skills to adapt in a fast-paced environment where change is constant.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Able to travel to various field sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification
- Proficient in Allen Bradley RSLogix-5000Knowledge and application of various communication protocols including Modbus, Profibus, etc.
- I&E certification or comparable experience
Physical Requirements
- Standard office environment with occasional time in the field.
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.
- Must be able to work in high pressure situations and meet tight deadlines.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be deemed insurable by the Company’s insurance provider.
