Job Description:
As a Trusts and Estates Paralegal, you will provide essential support to attorneys in managing trust and estate matters. Your responsibilities will include drafting legal documents, assisting with probate filings, coordinating trust administration, and ensuring the smooth operation of estate planning processes. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage a diverse caseload.
Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys in drafting estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advance health care directives.
- Prepare and file probate petitions and related documents with the court.
- Coordinate and manage trust administration tasks, including the funding of trusts and overseeing distributions.
- Prepare and review estate inventories, creditor claims, and final accountings in probate matters.
- Communicate with clients, beneficiaries, financial institutions, and other parties involved in estate and trust matters.
- Assist with estate tax filings and other tax-related matters.
- Maintain organized and accurate case files, ensuring all necessary documentation is up to date.
- Track deadlines, court dates, and filings to ensure compliance with all legal requirements.
- Conduct legal research on trusts, estates, and probate matters as needed.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a paralegal in trusts and estates law.
- Strong understanding of estate planning, probate, and trust administration procedures.
- Familiarity with Florida probate laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal software (experience with case management systems is a plus).
- Excellent organizational, research, and time-management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Paralegal certification is preferred but not required.
Compensation:
Salary range: $75,000 - $85,000 per year, commensurate with experience. Benefits package includes health insurance, paid time off, and retirement options.
