LHH Recruitment Solutions has partnered with a growing organization, and they are seeking a motivated Plant Human Resources Manager to join their team in Chicago, IL. You will play a crucial role in supporting the manufacturing operations by providing comprehensive HR support to the plant employees and leadership teams. You will manage a small human resources team at the plant. This position requires 5 years of HR leadership and management experience with a focus on talent acquisition, employee relations, and workforce planning. Bilingual communication in both English and Spanish is highly preferred. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in HR laws and regulations and possess a deep understanding of manufacturing industry safety and compliance standards. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide coaching, leadership, and support to managers and employees regarding HR policies, procedures, programs, and concerns.
- Lead and manage all employment practices, including recruitment, orientation, professional development, promotions, transfers, terminations, and temporary agency utilization.
- Administer various HR policies, ensuring consistency within the plant.
- Act as an employee advocate and mediator, handling employee relations concerns and legal issues as required.
- Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable federal and state HR requirements, conducting investigations, maintaining records, and representing the organization at hearings.
- Participate in employee disciplinary and counseling issues, reviewing disciplinary documentation as necessary.
- Manage the performance review process and ensure employee training includes competency development plans.
- Administer all employee benefit and payroll programs, coordinating with corporate as necessary.
- Ensure effective employee onboarding and orientation, following up as needed.
- Utilize excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain professional relationships with all levels of management and employees.
- Actively participate in the plant safety program, managing all safety-related documentation, including accident reporting and OSHA record-keeping.
- Ensure compliance with HR laws and regulations, and stay updated on changes in labor laws. Conduct regular plant walk-throughs with a focus on safety and compliance, adhering to PPE and safety standards.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field; an M.S. degree is a plus.
- PHR/SPHR certification is a plus.
- Bilingual verbal and written skills in Spanish/English are a strong plus.
- Minimum of 5-8 years of HR leadership experience in a manufacturing or plant environment.
- Strong in employee relations, talent management, and workforce planning.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities by partnering with business leaders and leading others in a fast-paced, changing operations environment.
- Knowledge of HR labor and employment law, with the ability to interpret, apply, and articulate this knowledge in support of business initiatives.
- Strong oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
- Ability to express opinions professionally and strong conflict resolution skills.
- Good organizational, planning, and follow-up skills.
