We are looking to fill a Sales and Use Tax position with an Auto Finance company based in Fort Worth. The Sales and Use Tax Accountant is responsible for managing the sales and use tax compliance, ensuring timely and accurate tax filings, conducting audits, maintaining records, and providing support to the business on tax-related matters. This position plays a key role in minimizing the company's tax liabilities while ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
This is a Hybrid role and pays 75K-80K Bonus.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and file accurate and timely sales and use tax returns for multiple jurisdictions, including state, local, and federal levels.
- Review sales transactions to determine appropriate taxability, including researching exemptions, nexus, and tax rates.
- Ensure that sales tax rates are applied correctly to invoices and transactions.
- Maintain detailed records of sales tax filings and supporting documentation.
- Prepare and manage monthly and quarterly reconciliations of sales tax accounts.
- Assist in preparing for sales and use tax audits, providing required documentation and explanations.
- Analyze sales tax data to identify potential tax savings opportunities or areas of risk.
- Maintain and update tax rates in the company’s accounting or enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
- Assist with the integration of sales tax systems or tools to improve efficiency and accuracy in tax processing.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field is a plus
- 2 years of experience in sales and use tax accounting, with a strong understanding of state and local tax laws.
- Strong knowledge of sales and use tax regulations, exemption certificates, and audit procedures.
- Attention to detail and ability to work with large datasets.
