LHH is partnering with a leading nonprofit organization to find a skilled Staff Accountant.
Reports to: Senior Director of Finance
Status: Full-time
Work Schedule: To start 5 days in office, then hybrid after training period
Salary: Up to $85,000 per year
Job Summary
The Staff Accountant will manage financial records, ensuring accurate tracking of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, and tax obligations. The ideal candidate will be organized, efficient, and deadline-oriented, upholding the organization’s mission, vision, values, and legal standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Reconcile bank accounts monthly, prepare cash adjusting journal entries for discrepancies.
- Properly code credit card transactions and process them using SAP Concur into Sage Intacct.
- Import payroll journals from Paychex into Sage Intacct and ensure payroll coding aligns with grant and contract funding.
- Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations for month-end closing.
- Record electronic deposits and manage receivables.
- Prepare and send payment voucher requests for government contracts and foundations.
- Generate monthly receivable aging reports to track and expedite outstanding balances.
- Collaborate with Thrift store staff on monthly reports, sales receipts, and accounting needs.
- Prepare quarterly sales tax reports and payments for Thrift stores.
- Assist in annual audits and other agency audits.
- Track and review payroll pretax 401K contributions and employer matching, ensuring compliance with ERISA regulations.
- Independently handle routine and assigned accounting tasks, ensuring accuracy and adherence to GAAP for non-profits and organizational standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
- 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, or Zoom, and standard office equipment.
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., SAGE Intacct, FundEz, Kindful) preferred.
- Knowledge of non-profit accounting practices and grant management systems (e.g., Passport, Grants Gateway, HHS) is desirable.
- Strong multi-tasking, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with diverse stakeholders.
