Job Overview:
Large Company in Nassau County is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our growing team. The Staff Accountant will assist in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting the accounting department, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- General Ledger Management: Assist in preparing journal entries, maintaining and reconciling general ledger accounts, and ensuring all transactions are properly recorded.
- Account Reconciliation: Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations and ensure discrepancies are investigated and resolved in a timely manner.
- Financial Reporting: Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Accounts Payable/Receivable: Assist with processing invoices, vendor payments, and tracking outstanding receivables.
- Audit Support: Assist with the preparation of audit schedules and provide necessary documentation for internal and external audits.
- Compliance & Regulations: Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax laws, and company policies.
- Data Entry & Documentation: Accurately enter financial data and maintain organized records for easy retrieval.
- Special Projects: Support senior accounting staff with ad-hoc financial projects and analysis as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Experience: 1-3 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar).
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and data entry.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze financial data and resolve discrepancies or issues independently.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA or working towards CPA certification.
- Experience with financial reporting and tax preparation.
