Process Engineer II
- This position is based in Richmond, Indiana and the incumbent must work fully on-site by October 2025. A relocation package is available. The incumbent can work remotely from anywhere in the United States until October 2025.
- Work schedule:
- Monday to Friday, regular overtime and evening/weekend support as required.
- Less than 10% travel required.

Process Engineering at our Richmond Biomanufacturing Facility
As part of the on-site Richmond Technical team, the Process Engineer II will provide technical expertise to establish new processes, improve existing operations, ensure quality compliance, and drive overall plant performance. The Process Engineer II will also maintain a secondary reporting structure to the Process Engineering team, which will provide additional functional guidance and resources.

Reporting to the on-site Technical Manager, you will have the opportunity to interface with customers, manufacturing operations, QC and analytical staff, and plant project engineering to ensure that the facility operates efficiently and meets quality requirements. You will support both fermentation and downstream process design and deployment, including technology transfer, commissioning and start-up activities, on-going production operations, and continuous improvement efforts.
In this role you’ll make an impact by:
- Monitoring and analyzing process data, identifying trends, and generating reports to track performance and identify areas for improvements.
- Preparing and maintaining detailed process documentation, including operating procedures and batch record sheets.
- Working with cross-functional teams, including quality, operations, plant engineering and maintenance, to optimize production and achieve output goals.
- Troubleshooting production issues, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions.
- Supporting tech transfer activities and understanding and analyzing process scale-up issues.
- Training manufacturing technicians on the use of new or existing equipment or processes.
- Supporting plant capital projects as needed.
- Completing other duties as required.
Desired candidate profile:
- The successful candidate must be able to work out of our Richmond, Indiana facility on a full-time basis by October 2025.
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, or a related field, with a strong understanding of chemical engineering fundamentals.
- 4 years of work experience as a Process Engineer in the biotechnology industry.
- Previous experience working with bacterial and yeast fermentation, tangential flow filtration, evaporation, crystallization, and/or spray drying is preferred.
- Direct work experience at CMOs or other commercial-scale manufacturing sites (i.e., tech transfer, scale-up, and on-going production).
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels of an organization and externally with third party customers and partners.
- Self-driven, collaborative, and results oriented.
- Resilient with the ability to navigate ambiguity.
- Energized at the idea of helping to build a positive work culture.
