The Fleet Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring our drivers comply with all applicable regulations, laws, and guidelines, including FMCSA/DOT, DEP, state/city regulations, insurance carrier requirements, etc.

Job Overview:
The Fleet Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring our drivers comply with all applicable regulations, laws, and guidelines, including FMCSA/DOT, DEP, state/city regulations, insurance carrier requirements, etc.
Main Responsibilities:
- Regularly report to the Vice President of Operations, highlighting key performance indicators.
- Collaborate with Operational Excellence and Operations teams to analyze KPIs and power unit usage patterns, identifying opportunities to eliminate or reduce risks.
- Work closely with the Safety Department, Facility Managers, and other departments to coordinate, facilitate, and measure KPIs and related activities.
- Offer coaching to drivers on navigating various road conditions, steep grades, inclement weather, and more.
- Track business internal and external regulatory compliance, including CSA, RSI, DQF, DOT qualification status, HUT, etc.
- Monitor performance and identify areas for retraining and process improvements.
- Organize and conduct driver coaching sessions, documenting evaluations.
- Evaluate employee driving abilities and competency, developing and communicating development plans when necessary.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of transportation policies and DOT/FMCSA regulations.
- Develop and deliver classroom-based training programs.
- A satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record is mandatory.
- A Class A driver's license is highly desirable (previous holders are also preferred).
- Heavy haul or unique driving experience can be beneficial.
- A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in creating, updating, implementing, and managing fleet safety policies and procedures is required.
- Strong knowledge of DOT/FMCSA rules and regulations is essential.
- Demonstrated expertise in Federal/State FMCSA regulations and other relevant government, industrial, and city/territory-specific standards.
- Working knowledge in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Proficiency in Electronic Logging systems is necessary.
- Hazardous Materials Transportation Experience is advantageous.
- Strong initiative, leadership skills, and a willingness to share knowledge.
- Excellent communication skills, interacting with executive teams, site-specific teams, drivers, management, dispatch, office personnel, and drivers.
- An energetic, self-motivated individual with the ability to work in a structured environment.
- Exceptional organizational skills for prioritizing tasks and maintaining accurate documentation.
- Strategic emphasis on fleet safety policies and procedures.
