Job Summary
The Liberty County Board of Commissioners is currently seeking skilled applicants for the full-time position of Parks Maintenance Technician within the Recreation Department. The ideal candidate will be dependable and prioritize safety. This position is responsible for performing maintenance and repair to county-operated parks sports fields and facilities.
Major Job Duties
- Performs various landscaping activities at recreation facilities and parks; ie. mowing; trimming; trash pickup.
- Performs preventative and routine maintenance repairs on buildings; facilities; pools; and equipment.
- Installs and maintains walking trails; ballfields; and playgrounds.
- Performs semi-skilled and routine tasks; i.e. maintenance carpentry; electrical; painting; and plumbing.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills Required
- Be safety-conscious and a team player.
- Knowledgeable of landscaping practices and methods.
- Skilled in maintenance and repair work.
- Oral and written communication.
Minimum Qualifications
- A high school diploma (or equivalent) is required.
- Less than one year of related experience is required.
- Experience in mechanical; plumbing; and carpentry methods and practices is preferred.
- Must possess a valid Georgia Class C driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
Physical Requirements
- Typically performed while typically sitting; standing; walking; bending; crouching; or stooping.
- Frequently lifts light and heavy objects.
- Climbs ladders; uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity; distinguishes between shades of color; and utilizes sense of smell.
- Typically performed in an office; stockroom; a very noisy place; or outdoors occasionally in cold or inclement weather.
- Exposure to dust; dirt; grease; machinery with moving parts; or irritating chemicals.
- Requires the use of protective devices such as masks; goggles; and gloves.
Salary & Benefits
This is a full-time position with a starting annual compensation of $36,379.20 (Pay Grade 10A). Work hours are typically 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM Monday through Friday with occasional Saturday hours.
