What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Care Tech / Unit Secretary [3South Progressive Care] position at Liberty Hospital?
SUMMARY : Attends nursing station, and performs clerical and reception duties. Requisitions supplies, equipment, and services. Supports processes to maintain the functionality and integrity of the Medical Record. Assists patients with activities of daily living and performs technical skills under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN). Follows directions from RN to apply principles of growth and development throughout the life continuum.
Required Education / Training : Unlicensed Assistive Personnel training or the training requirements will be waived if an employee demonstrates competency in the content areas required by regulatory requirements; in the duties specific to their job and the patient population assigned; or meets on of the requirements as defined below :
- Was a professional nursing or practical nursing licensure candidate who has failed to pass the state licensure examinations in the past three (3) years; or
- is enrolled in a professional or practical nursing education program and has completed a fundamentals of nursing course; or
- Possesses current certification as a nursing assistant per Missouri state regulations (Missouri C.N.A.); or
- has documented education as an emergency medical technician, medical assistant or surgical technician; or
- has two (2) years documented experience as a nurse assistant in the past three (3) years (e.g. has worked as and can provide an out-of-state nursing assistant certification or PCT training course); or
- has completed a professional or licensed practical nursing program outside the United States and is awaiting the licensure examination in this country.
Required Licensure / Certification / Registration : BLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
Preferred Education / Training : High school diploma or equivalent, or work experience
Preferred Experience : Minimum six (6) months recent experience in an acute care setting; medical secretary training; medical terminology
