Job Summary
The Regional Controller will lead the development and implementation of accounting principles, best practices, and procedures to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial statements. This role oversees the accounting functions across regional sites and is responsible for all financial reporting. The Regional Controller reports to the Area Finance Director, with a dotted line to the Regional Vice President.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting activities at regional sites to ensure accurate and timely financial processes, in line with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Support the region's accounts payable, receivable, and payroll departments.
- Manage the general ledger and journal entry postings for the region.
- Complete and reconcile monthly site volume flows for inbound and outbound transactions.
- Verify and reconcile site inventories.
- Ensure accuracy and proper recording of intercompany transactions.
- Oversee balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Ensure all monthly accruals are accurately recorded and supported.
- Collaborate with the operations team to develop and track metrics/reports that enhance forecasting tools.
- Generate capital project requests and conduct supporting analysis.
- Review monthly operating financial reports, providing variance analyses against budget and prior year figures.
- Prepare annual budgets.
- Analyze and propose regional initiatives aimed at improving financial performance.
- Participate in management meetings.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Experience with accounting software, preferably MAS 500 or another Sage ERP platform.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
- High integrity, excellent organizational skills, and detail-oriented.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Deadline-focused with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Positive attitude and a strong team player.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited institution.
- CPA and/or MBA preferred.
