What are the responsibilities and job description for the Casas Residential Tutor position at Liberty University?
The tutor position is a student work study/assistant who works collaboratively with the Assistant Director of Tutoring Services in providing comprehensive and integrated academic support and resources to students. The tutor will impact the retention of students through providing tutoring for Residential students enrolled in certain residential and online course(s). The Academic Success Center (ASC), under the College of Applied Studies and Academic Success strives to support the academic success of residential and online Liberty University students by providing free tutoring for various courses each semester.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Meet with students in a one-to-one, small-group, walk-in, or classroom tutoring format to provide learning assistance and help students improve or maintain their academic excellence (70%).
- Integrate effective study and learning strategies to maximize students' potential for academic progress (10%).
- Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions and attendees (5%).
- Attend mandatory tutor orientation, training sessions, and scheduled meetings as required by the Director of Tutoring Services (5%).
- Complete Canvas and other training courses, assignments, and quizzes (5%).
- Assist with additional duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Tutoring Services (5%).
Minimum Qualifications
Qualifications, Credentials, and Competencies
- Current residential undergraduate or graduate student.
- Eligible for Federal Work Study (depending on position).
- "A" or "B" in the course(s).
- Cumulative LU GPA of at least 3.0.
- Letter of recommendation from the instructor of the course(s).
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with individuals from varying educational, cultural, and social backgrounds.
- Enthusiasm for ministering to and helping students improve their knowledge of course content and effective study habits.
- Excellent level of responsibility, reliability, punctuality, and organization.
- Appropriate and professional behavior.
- Previous tutoring experience.
- An "A" in each course you wish to tutor.
- Excellent communication skills.
