What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marketing and Social Media Manager position at Liberty University?
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as liaison between CASAS departments and Liberty’s Marketing Department to produce marketing materials such as emails, booklets, brochures, mailers, apparel, and other promotional items.
- Work closely with department representatives and the Marketing Department’s project coordinator to ensure that key, strategic messages are communicated effectively to target audiences.
- Conceptualize and produce compelling content for CASAS social media accounts, fostering active engagement with target audiences.
- Monitor analytics and other data for CASAS social media accounts while researching and recommending changes to the social media plan.
- Coordinate and submit weekly social media calendars to Liberty’s social media team for approval.
- Oversee and assist with updates to CASAS webpages.
- Conduct an annual audit of CASAS webpages.
- Review, proof, and edit content of marketing projects, webpages, and social media accounts for accuracy and consistency of message.
- Analyze marketing, social media, and webpage metrics to assess performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Recruit and supervise student workers. Provide support, feedback, and training as needed.
- Work with the Director and Assistant Director of Operations to ensure assignments are completed, deadlines are maintained, and student employees stay on task until projects are complete.
- Conduct market research to ensure the department remains at the forefront of industry best practices and trends.
- Provide operational and marketing support for CASAS projects.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director and/or Assistant Director of Operations.
- Strictly adheres to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.
- Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s mission.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position supervises a team of student content creators.
QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
Minimum Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree (preferably in marketing, communications, or a related field).
- Demonstrated proficiency in social media management.
- Project management experience.
- Detail-oriented with strong communication skills.
- Able to work collaboratively as a team member and cultivate positive working relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Able to work well under pressure, independently manage multiple tasks and projects with competing priorities and deadlines, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced working environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
- Industry certifications in social media management, content marketing, search engine optimization, etc.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Premier Pro).
- Successful portfolio of experience implementing social media strategies and leading creative initiatives.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work Environment
The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled office setting. It is well lit and the noise level is low to moderate. Working environment also includes facilitation of events outdoors occasionally.
Driving Requirements
Use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) may be required for travel in the performance of the essential functions of this position. Proof of a valid Virginia driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.
Work Hours
Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. (40 hours a week)
