JOB TITLE: Buyer
DEPARTMENT: Supply Chain
REPORTING TO: Senior Manager of Supply Chain
PRIMARY FUNCTION OF POSITION:
Procuring and expediting of raw materials (Aluminum, Stainless, Misc. Metals) and services required by Libra Industries in accordance with Lean Manufacturing, Kanban, JIT and MRP tools. Working independently or with supervisor and department personnel on purchasing/supply chain and other internal projects to drive improvements within the organization, support customer requirements or other projects as required for the organization.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
- Work with supervisor and department personnel to insure quality, on time delivery and lowest overall cost through the efficient performance of the below listed duties.
- Procure raw material and or parts to meet Manufacturing/Production requirements scheduling to arrive on provided dates, while meeting or beating target prices from approved Suppliers.
- Expedite Material/Parts on order with Suppliers and provide accurate delivery dates and defined explanations of late deliveries to Program Managers.
- Quote material cost on provided customer B.O.M.s for R.F.Q.s, including piece price, minimum lot sizing and lead time.
- Verify and maintain purchasing quality records as outlined in Libra’s quality manual.
- Provide true cost information on all jobs processed (PPV).
- Identify root cause and implement corrective actions on product, processes and other operations issues.
- Complete assigned projects with appropriate project and communication tools. Utilize Six Sigma/Lean projects to drive process improvements.
- Other duties as required for the smooth operation of your department.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Associates Degree.
- Minimum two year purchasing experience in Manufacturing Environment.
- Ability to read Blueprints is a plus.
- Strong communication and negotiating skills.
- Ability to be flexible.
- Ability to identify issues and implement corrective actions.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Excel.
- Working knowledge of MRP/ ERP systems.
- Team Player.
- Strong Work Ethic.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- This position will work in both front and shop environments.
- In the shop, you will be exposed to airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, machines, and material handling vehicles. PPE is required in this shop area.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- While performing duties of this job, the employee is required to have good hearing and sight.
- You will need to be able to walk the shop floor and be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
