The IT Project Manager plans, directs, and coordinates activities of designated projects to ensure that goals or objectives of projects are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters by performing the following duties personally or through supporting personnel.
Responsibilities
- Reviews project proposals or plans to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.
- Provides IT technical expertise throughout the scope of the project, to include evaluating, testing, and/or implementing IT solutions.
- Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of project and arranges for recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
- Confers with project staff to outline work-plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
- Directs and coordinates activities of assigned project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
- Reviews status reports prepared by project personnel and modifies schedules and/or plans as required.
- Prepares project reports and risk assessments for management, client, or others.
- Organizes and conducts meetings to discuss projects and progress.
- Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.
- Responsible for all local Cloud applications approvals, checklists and communications with division and global IT.
- Communicates and collaborates with Global, division, and other local IT departments to provide common IT solutions.
- Creates documentation for IT personnel and end users.
Competencies
-
Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in IT Related Field, Project Management, or Business Management from four-year College or university and 2 years of relevant experience; or 6 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Current PMP, CAPN, PMI-ACP, CSM, or equivalent project management certification(s) is strongly preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Project or other Project management tools is preferred.
- Project Management: Develops project plans; Coordinates projects; Communicates changes and progress; Completes projects on time and budget; Manages project team activities.
- Quality: Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Applies feedback to improve performance; Monitors own work to ensure quality.
- Computer Skills: Knowledge of Internet software; Inventory software; Order processing systems; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
- IT Technical Expertise: Knowledge of IT Infrastructures, IT Applications, IT Security, and Networking.
- Problem Solving: Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions; Works well in group problem solving situations; Uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20% of the time
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver license and passport
- Ability to maintain Mine Safety & Health Administration (MSHA) certification
- Ability to obtain and maintain electrical certification in high, medium and low voltage
- Serve on 24/7 rosters up to 12-hour shifts, one week on and one week off.
