What are the responsibilities and job description for the Integrated Care Paramedic position at Life EMS Ambulance?
This is a full-time position (Monday - Friday). Pay ranges from $27.94/hr to $39.50/hr, depending on experience and having a Critical Care Paramedic license. **$2,000 sign on bonus.
Summary:
Working collaboratively as a member of the care team, the Integrated Care Paramedic (ICP) will perform routine evaluations focused on health maintenance, wellbeing, and safety of enrolled TANDEM365 members. The ICP will provide urgent and non-urgent assessments for patients having acute medical concerns in their home or other setting. The ICP will provide thorough physical exam, appropriate care and interventions, and coordinate with members of the patients health care team to ensure a safe and effective plan of care. Along with this, the ICP will support all patients and TANDEM365 team members to provide preventative care and promote wellness to enable patients to remain in their setting and reduce unnecessary hospitalizations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with all members of TANDEM365, Life EMS Associates, and other outside agencies and providers to ensure patients health and wellbeing.
- Provide a variety of medical assessments and interventions under the guidance of the TANDEM365 medical director, protocol, and care team.
- Participates in Interdisciplinary Care Team (IDT) meetings and provides input on patient care and health maintenance for enrolled members.
- Provide effective triage of medical concerns and other patient issues as a member of the afterhours coverage team.
- Provide emergency response to TANDEM365 patients alongside front-line EMS crews.
- Evaluate vital sign trends and formulate appropriate action plan to address concerns.
- Provide written reports of assessment and patient care using a variety of patient documentation programs.
- Attends training sessions as required to maintain certification and develop additional community paramedic skills.
- Provides education to enrolled patients, Life EMS Associates, and outside agencies and providers about TANDEM365 services.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Skills & Knowledge Requirements:
- Exceptional knowledge of emergency care procedures, common physical illnesses, obvious symptoms, and appropriate medical terminology and treatment.
- Demonstrate the ability to evaluate and make appropriate decisions both independently and collaboratively, while under stress.
- Considerable skill in emergency care procedures.
- Ability to maintain a good working relationship with fellow associates, TANDEM365 staff, as well as outside agencies and providers.
- Must be a Level II Paramedic and provide evidence of leadership skills that demonstrate an ability to function as a lead medic.
- Ability to prepare detailed written reports.
- Ability to prepare education materials and provide training as assigned.
- Must have time management and organizational skills.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
- Must maintain a valid drivers license and a good driving record.
- Must pass all Life EMS pre-employment requirements as outlined on the Conditional Offer of Employment.
- Must possess current Paramedic license issued by the state of Michigan.
- Must maintain all appropriate certifications, licensures, and required trainings for MCA privileges.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the associate is required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance visions, color visions, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The associates must also do the following:
- Sit and drive using frequent wrist motions and forward reaches
- Walk, climb stairs, carry medical equipment up to 70lbs
- Push and pull wheelchairs while ascending or descending stairs with 130 pound patient
- Lift, push and pull stretcher to load and unload 150 pound patient (with assistance of one other Paramedic)
- Lift and transfer loads up to 150 pound (with assistance of one other Paramedic)
- Climb ladder and crawl
- Lifting one end of stretcher weighing 105lbs from chest to overhead (48-66)
- Ability to wear particulate respirator. Facial hair, except for a mustache to the corners of the mouth, is prohibited.
