Position Summary
The Lead Behavior Technician will work fully under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst ("BCBA") or designee and will work directly with children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder on a one-on-one (1 : 1) basis.
The Lead Behavior Technician will provide individualized Applied Behavior Analysis ("ABA") therapy services in the context specified within the client's individualized treatment plan. The Lead Behavior Technician will implement learning
programs (i.e., communication, play skills, social interaction, adaptive life skills), collect data on target behaviors, communicate with client stakeholders, maintain client confidentiality, and regularly meet with their direct leader. The Lead
Behavior Technician will be expected to act responsibly when working with the client or representing Centria and Life Skills Autism Academy (hereafter referred to as "the Company") in the community. Additionally, the Lead Behavior Technician will work closely with new hires during their first week post-training completion, ensuring that new Behavior Technicians understand how to apply learnings by breaking down key ABA concepts while the new Behavior Technician shadows the Lead Behavior Technician as they work directly with a client and run sessions. At the end of shadowing, the Lead Behavior Technician will perform competency assessments of new Behavior Technicians, validating they are ready to begin working with a client of their own.
Success Measures
Success measures for this role include integrating new Behavior Technicians into the company, establishing a high interobserver agreement (IOA) for Behavior Technician competency assessments, maintaining a positive work environment, providing quality clinical services, and adhering to policies and quality standards. Compliance with company and payor requirements, authorized treatment plans, high staff integrity assessment, and family satisfaction scores are also important measures of success.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide ABA therapy services directly to clients, primarily in a 1 : 1 setting at the client's home or one of the Company's centers utilizing a combination of intensive teaching and natural environment training arrangements.
Follow the prescribed behavioral skill acquisitions, behavior reduction protocols, and client behavioral plans.
Observe client behavior and collect, record, and summarize data on such.Assist with parent and caregiver training in line with the client's individualized treatment and behavior reduction protocols.Ensure documentation is completed on time and follow established company procedures.Effectively communicate with parents and caregivers regarding client progress under the instruction of the Supervising Clinician or BCBA.Utilize safe and appropriate procedures when working with clients, including de-escalating client behaviors.Appropriately report all critical incidents and safety concerns by payor requirements and the Company's reporting policies.Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment to work with the client and provide therapy services effectively.Improve client outcomes and reduce new Behavior Technician attrition by providing training and support to Behavior Technicians in their first-week post-orientation.Responsible for providing therapeutic sessions based on the Foundations of Care (FOC).
This role is cognizant of each client's Foundations Plan, which includes, but is not limited to, an understanding of the client's assent and assent withdrawal, optimal therapeutic environment, interfering behaviors and how to respond, and effectively implementing TEAM / STEAM.Provide additional coaching and mentorship for new Behavior Technicians during their first week post-training completion.Complete Competency Assessments for new Behavior Technicians as part of their shadowing.Model effective evidence-based therapeutic interventions that align with each client's Foundational Plan and establish data collection methods to track clients' interfering behaviors and skill acquisition programs.Support new Behavior Technicians by conducting regular overlaps, providing positive and constructive feedback to reinforce best practices and areas for improvement, and offering assistance and resources to manage client sessions.Establish a supportive and collaborative environment to encourage Behavior Technicians to ask questions, share concerns, and seek guidance.Assist Supervising Clinician as needed to prepare client materials, client behavior reduction assessments, and client skills acquisition.Maintain compliance and acquire technical knowledge by completing required training and attending meetings. Adhere to the Company's established policies and procedures.Meet all expected standards of quality and service deliveryComply with company and payor requirements.Meet and maintain all compliance and competency requirements (fidelity assessments, initial training assessments, etc.).Achieve and maintain high Staff Integrity Assessments and Family Satisfaction scores.Attend training upon hire and annually as required by company guidelines and Regulatory agencies.Participate in an agency-wide Compliance Program to ensure services provided are consistent with services authorized per the individual.Compliance with Centria's Code of Conduct, policies and procedures, and Federal and State laws.Responsibility to report violations of Company policies or the Code of Conduct.Range

Centria's office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 : 00 AM - 6 : 00 PM, with primary therapy hours conducted after school (3 : 00 PM - 8 : 00 PM).The work location, including home, community, or center / academy, will vary by client case.Additional time or occasional shifts may be required to complete the above work or meet company objectives.Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the team member may be exposed to a client who exhibits physically aggressive behavior, which can include kicking, pinching, punching, biting, etc. The team member may have to use appropriate behavior management techniques with a client under such circumstances. Such a response requires agility, quick reflexes, and the ability to use physically evasive movement. The team member will be required to stand, walk, sit, grasp, reach, bend, kneel, crouch, squat, hear, type, and write. The team member will be exposed to normal office conditions and equipment such as phone, computer, computers, files, etc. The team member must be able to independently push, pull, list, move, and carry objects weighing to thirty-five (35) lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near, far, and field vision.
