Islamic Imam for paid Offender and ex-offender re-entry education and guidance
25 - 30 hours per week.
This is an 18-month program taught in an incarceration setting. The program provides inmates with intensive opportunities for spiritual growth and deepening their religious roots by sharing common space and programs for personal transformation and reducing recidivism. Inmates will take part in religion specific and inter-faith program components designed to bring restoration with God, family, community, and self. The program's design will increase religious tolerance and respect among inmates of various faiths, will connect each inmate with a spiritual mentor, and will link participants with a faith community at their release destination to enhance community reintegration.
Responsibilities
- Conduct educational sessions and workshops focused on offender re-entry, utilizing effective public speaking and presentation skills.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to individuals, fostering leadership and communication skills.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of educational activities and participant progress.
The candidate must already live in the United States, be legal to work in the U.S., and be able to pass a security clearance with a financial responsibility check. If not a citizen, must have lived in the U.S. for the last 5 years (No Exceptions).
Must have a minimum of three years of experience as a credentialed spiritual leader. Must be a recognized Imam or spiritual leader in good standing with the faith community and provide letters of reference from the Islamic leader of his/her community.
Must be a member in good standing with a recognized Islamic community and have extensive experience serving as an Imam or Spiritual Leader for an Islamic congregation.
Must, at a minimum, possess a Master's degree, or be enrolled in a Master's degree program with a major in Islamic Studies, religious studies, religious education, philosophy, human sciences or other related curriculum. Preferred experience in teaching re-entry education in a correctional setting. Preferred experience working with and teaching people of diverse religious backgrounds.
