Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
To “own” the monthly close process along with being the liaison for annual audit and tax. Support the CFO in carrying out the responsibilities of the Finance / Accounting Department.
Duties and Responsibilities also include :
- Manage and develop a team of 2 Staff Accountants.
- General Ledger maintenance and preparation of journal entries.
- Facilitate and complete monthly close procedures (meet / exceed close schedule due dates).
- Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules according to monthly close checklist.
- Ensure accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and compliance to internal policies.
- Maintain company 401(k) plan
- Provide oversight of daily transactional activity conducted by Staff Accountants.
- Monitor, manage, and process daily cash and collections.
- Prepare / Review weekly check-runs and disbursements.
- Prepare quarterly reporting requirements related to banking covenants.
- Prepare supporting documentation for annual tax returns.
- Facilitate the compilation of data for Sunshine Act Compliance Reporting
- Lead the internal and external audits, assist with preparation of financial statement footnotes and supplemental information.
- Prepare and file corporate annual reports.
- Document and evaluate current procedures.
- Prepares correspondence and participates in special department projects.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications : Four-year degree in Accounting is required along with 3 - 5 years of accounting experience. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license in the state of Illinois is a plus. Progressive corporate accounting experience with general ledger management, preparation of financial statements, payroll and annual audits. Good understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounting Standards (GAAP); Microsoft Dynamics AX experience a plus.
Experience and skills :
Physical Demands : Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and / or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
Anticipated Travel : Less than 5%
